Fireworks

Mum had the record for the shortest firework display. Dad was engaged in a Scout activity ‘down the hut’ so it fell to mum to perform the firework display duty.

Fireworks were stored in a biscuit tin and were kept away from the area she was intending to use. The top of our garden in Hutton was bare earth and effectively an allotment.  In front of that stood dads shed and then the garden stretched probably 25 metres to the house.

Thr display was begind the shed on the veg patch. A couple of fireworks into the repertoire one particulrly agile device threw sparks and coloured balls quite a distance. One random spark flew straight across to the shed and into the biscuit tin.  There then followed about a two minute display in a tin all played out directly next to the back of the shed.

We all left to join Dad at the scout Hut. We couldnt  wait to tell him.  Mum was very relieved that ‘Your Father’s Shed’ as she so often clled it - survived as that would have been the worst possible outcome.
